Painting Rocky Landscapes in Watercolour

Alicia Morry will share a variety of techniques for creating rocky landscapes in watercolour. Topics covered include approaches to colour mixing, glazing, using masking fluid, and how toothbrushes, salt, and plastic cards can help add texture to your paintings.

Class size will be limited to 15.
Materials you should bring:
Participants are encouraged to bring their own watercolour supplies/preferred colours but basic versions of all supplies listed will be provided for those who need them.
Recommended colours: cobalt blue, ultramarine blue (or French ultramarine), quinacridone magenta (or alizarin crimson or quinacridone red), cadmium red (or scarlet lake), cadmium yellow light (or Winsor yellow), raw sienna (or quinacridone gold), burnt sienna
Nice to have colours: lemon yellow, cerulean blue, sap green (or chromium oxide green), Payne’s grey
Brushes: Large round (8 to 12), small round brush (0 to 4),mop (or two-inch flat)
140 or 300-pound watercolour paper (8 x 10 inches or larger is recommended)
Any plastic membership card/credit card that you don't mind getting paint on
Masking tape or green painter’s tape
Flat surface larger than your paper (e.g., a drawing board, Masonite board))
Masking fluid (bottle or fineliner)
An old paintbrush for the masking fluid and an old toothbrush
Two water containers—mason jars, yogurt tubs, etc., work fine; Cloth or paper towel
